Kathy Griffin Steps Up for The Trevor Project

•October 6, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Mazel, Kathy Griffin! The My Life on the D-List star announced that she’s donating her take from her upcoming show in L.A. to the Trevor Project, the non-profit suicide and crisis hotline for LGBTQ youth. The news came after Kathy appeared on Larry King Live to discuss bullying, homophobia, and the soaring suicide rate among gay teens. In fact, Larry himself broke the news via Twitter (yes, Larry King is on Twitter), and Kathy promptly RTed it out to her fans. Larry wrote:

“@KathyGriffin announced she’s donating her entire salary from her Dec 16 show at the Gibson Amphitheater to @TrevorProject”

Kathy was joined by Wanda Sykes, Tim Gunn, and Lance Bass on Larry’s show, where Kathy took aim at institutional homophobia as the root cause for bullying and violence against gays.

“Let’s cut the crap. The way that we had trickle down economics in the ’80s, this is trickle down homophobia,” Kathy told King. “I really want people to connect the dots, and that’s why I think there’s a connection between Prop 8, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and now this string of teen suicides. It’s almost sanctioned to bully gay people and to treat them as second class citizens.”

Kathy has been vocal about the issue, addressing it on her official site, driving those in need of support to the Trevor Project. To learn more about the cause or to find support, visit TheTrevorProject.org or call 1-866-4-U-TREVOR.

NEW YORK – July 27, 2010 – Bravo announces the series premiere of “Thintervention with Jackie Warner,” an emotional and lifestyle changing new docu-series inspired by renowned fitness expert Jackie Warner’s mission to change lives through healthy habits. “Thintervention with Jackie Warner” premieres Monday, September 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

In “Thintervention,” Warner of the Bravo series “Work Out” will do what she does best – kick butt and inspire drastic lifestyle changes for her overweight clients who are struggling to lose weight and get healthy for good. Warner will push them to their limit at her gym and inspire them with intense workouts at amazing locations. Not sent to a weight loss camp or facility, instead Warner works with them in their real lives surrounded by the everyday distractions and stresses of family and work, making the chances for long-term success greater. Progress will be checked through group therapy and weekly weigh-ins. Warner will do whatever it takes to keep her clients on track – even if it means surprise ambushes at their homes, work or when out socializing.

In typical Warner boot camp style, she will accept nothing less than full commitment to change and will confront those that do not show her they are sincere with their fitness goals. Warner’s eight clients include a cocktail loving “life advisor”, a stand up comedian who uses humor to deflect attention from her weight, an independent film producer who hides food from his boyfriend and an ex-“Housewife” and former Playmate center fold:

The Morning After: Blowing a Fuse

Remember that Team Jill vs. Team Bethenny scorecard? You might want to grab it, cross off Bethenny’s name, and replace it with Alex’s. What has gotten into that girl? In two words: Jill Zarin.

On Thursday night’s Real Housewives of NYC, Alex said it herself, it was a “series of explosions and reconciliations” with Jill. After taking on the dangerous roll of Bethenny’s messenger last week, things couldn’t be more tense between the two.

The air didn’t clear at LuAnn’s party at Sonia’s. Jill begrudgingly said hello to Alex, and then proceeded to give her the cold shoulder the rest of the night. Alex held her ground even when both LuAnn and Bobby pulled her aside to ask why she delivered such a cruel message to Jill in front of everyone. They both believed it was out of character for Alex because she is not a mean person. Or so they thought. Has her retaliation mission left her a changed housewife?

On her way into party number two of last week’s episode, Alex told Simon she didn’t want any more drama. And if it were up to her, there wouldn’t have been. It was Jill that set things off, saying hello and complimenting her ever so sweetly. Seeing right through her smile, Alex grabbed Simon and went home.

If it was not obvious that Alex was over Jill’s drama last week, this week she definitely made it clear. By party number three of the episode, a housewife get-together at Jennifer’s, Alex didn’t hesitate to once again call Jill out. It seems public display of detest is becoming one of Alex’s favorite pastimes.

So who takes the cake for most catfights this week? After three social events, each with their own drama, Jill and Alex are neck and neck (and at each other’s throats). But even putting Alex aside, Jill was in fine form criticizing Kelly’s use of the word “like,” accusing Ramona of not being a good friend, and openly asking about the attendance of other housewives at the party in order to talk about them behind their backs. It’s no wonder Alex has officially blown a fuse.

Bravo’s “Bethenny Getting Married?” Premieres June 10

•May 7, 2010 • Leave a Comment

It’s all about brides and babies on Bravo’s newest docu-series “Bethenny Getting Married?” featuring “Real Housewife of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel as she prepares for two of life’s biggest milestones – a wedding and a baby – simultaneously. Watch as Bethenny’s life goes into over-drive as she prepares for motherhood and becoming a real “Real Housewife” when she weds fiancé Jason Hoppy, all while juggling her burgeoning career as an author and natural foods chef.  “Bethenny Getting Married?” premieres Thursday, June 10 at 10PM ET/PT.

As one of the breakout characters of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” Bethenny has shared her life with millions, and now in her own docu-series, fans will get an even closer look into everything Bethenny. Viewers will follow the outspoken New Yorker as she juggles her happy love life, plans for a wedding and prepares for baby, all while managing her insanely busy career. Somewhere in her hectic schedule she finds time to write two books on healthy living that were both included on the New York Times Best Sellers List – Naturally Thin: Unleash Your Skinny girl & Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting and The Skinnygirl Dish: Easy Recipes for Your Naturally Thin Life – and continues to manage her line of “Skinnygirl” cocktails. Helping Bethenny balance her life are ever-patient and loving fiancé Jason Hoppy, tireless assistant Julie, dedicated intern Max and beloved dog Cookie.

Meet the cast:

Bethenny Frankel – This always-on-the-go workaholic manages her successful line of Skinnygirl Margaritas, two books on the New York Times Best Sellers list, and a career as a natural foods chef with a jam packed social calendar. But Bethenny finally found time for what’s most important – falling in love and starting a family. Now as she adds moving into a new apartment and preparing for her wedding and a baby to the mix – how will she juggle it all?

Jason Hoppy – The Manhattan businessman who finally swept Bethenny off her feet, helps to keep her grounded and calm when all things Bethenny move at warp speed. He enjoys golf, working out, playing basketball and experiencing all that New York has to offer with Bethenny and her beloved dog Cookie.

Julie Plake – Bethenny’s hard-working, dedicated assistant helps keep her personal and business life in tact. After meeting Bethenny at an event in the Hamptons, she took on the task of organizing Bethenny’s incredibly busy and never boring schedule, all while trying to find the time to balance her own life. When she’s not managing Bethenny’s jam-packed calendar, she loves both watching and playing sports and cooking.

Max Meisel – This sports junkie came on board as Bethenny’s intern to help manage the crazy workload. Often the butt of Bethenny’s jokes, Max’s thick skin and ability to roll with the punches has enabled him to transition from football jock to “Skinnygirl” connoisseur without breaking a sweat.  When he’s not dropping off Bethenny’s dresses at the tailor or diving into lengthy conversations about his passion for “cougars,” he spends his time playing sports and writing screenplays.

Premieres Thursday, June 10 At 10PM ET/PT
